Ruka Parkside has a spot-on location – you’re right next to the Saarua slopes and just metres from the lifts, so you can be on the snow in no time. Cross-country trails start almost at your doorstep too, ideal if you fancy switching things up and trying a different style of skiing during your stay.

Inside, the apartments are compact but have everything you need for a comfortable self-catering break, without the fancy extras that bump up the price. The kitchenette is fully equipped, from a microwave and fridge to a coffee maker and toaster. There’s even a dishwasher to make the post-meal clean-up easier. And if you don’t feel like cooking, you can add on bed and breakfast or half board to enjoy meals at the nearby Ruka Valley Apartments.

And when you want more than what’s right outside, you’re still well connected – just hop on the Village–Valley gondola to reach the shops, bars and restaurants of Ruka Village, on the other side of the mountain.
