Set in a quiet hillside location above Zell am See, Gartenhotel Daxer offers excellent ski-in access, located just metres from three of the main Schmittenhöhe ski lifts. With its tranquil setting and panoramic mountain views, it’s an ideal base for making the most of the ski area.
After a day on the slopes, unwind in the hotel’s bright and contemporary wellness area, where large windows perfectly frame the surrounding snowy peaks. Enjoy a swim in the indoor pool, relax in the sauna or steam bath, or simply switch off in the cosy relaxation lounge.
Dining is a real highlight of the stay. Begin each morning with a generous breakfast buffet, and on your return from the mountains, enjoy homemade cakes and afternoon snacks. In the evening, a delicious four-course dinner is served, with a choice of fish, meat, or vegetarian main courses.

Breakfast is a large buffet of hot and cold dishes served from 7:30am - 10am. Help yourself to a selection of breads, jams, fruit & yogurts as well as eggs, bacon, beans, cheeses and more.
Afternoon snacks are served from 3pm - 5pm with a great selection of cakes and savoury snacks.
Evening meals are served in the hotel's restaurant where you can indulge in four courses as well as a salad buffet.

About Zell am See
Zell am See skiing
Set by Lake Zell, Zell am See and its bus-linked neighbour Kaprun make up the 'Europa Sport' region, with a total of 130km of runs, 80 of which are at Zell. The setting is one of Zell's biggest selling points, with lovely views of the lake from the medieval town and the slopes above. The ski area caters well for beginners intermediates keen on improving technique in the mostly tree-lined pistes. Advanced skiers have the Kitzsteinhorn glacier located down the road at nearby Kaprun.

The lakeside town has loads of activities for those not on skis or a board, with lively nightlife, decent restaurants and a full range of accommodation. It is good to check where you are staying in relation to the lifts, as there is a short free bus to access the slopes. For skiing, it is also worth exploring some of the other terrain in the area, like Saalbach, Bad Gastein and Schladming. Overall, Zell is a lovely spot for a winter holiday, with or without skiing.
The beautiful setting gives Zell am See a unique atmosphere not found in many Austrian resorts, and really sets it apart. Despite the smaller ski area, Zell am See remains one of Austria's top 5 resorts, and deservedly so.
