Overview

The simple Hotel Sportiv offers excellent value and a prime location in Obergurgl. Just moments from the Festkogel gondola, it provides quick and easy access to the slopes each morning, making it a convenient base for keen skiers.

Inside, the hotel has a traditional Tyrolean feel, with wood-panelled ceilings and a cosy lounge warmed by an open fireplace—ideal for unwinding after a day in the mountains.

Meals are served buffet-style, with a hearty breakfast to start the day and a generous evening spread offering both familiar favourites and regional specialities.

Guests also benefit from access to the facilities at the nearby Crystal VAYA Unique hotel. Its spa can be used free of charge on Mondays and Tuesdays, with paid access available later in the week. The two hotels are connected, so you can move between them without going outside.

Just so you know, the adults-only spa area is open to guests aged 15 or over.

So you're aware, there's an extra charge to use the Crystal VAYA Unique hotel's spa and entrance is subject to availability. It costs adults approx. €60 per day and €40 for half a day. For children under 15 years it costs approx. €50 per day and €30 for half a day.

Reception is open Friday afternoons and Saturdays, the rest of the time you'll need to use the reception across the road at the Crystal VAYA.

About Obergurgl

Perched at 1,930 metres above sea level, Obergurgl is one of the highest villages in the Alps, making it a fantastic choice for reliable snow throughout the ski season. The slopes cater to all abilities, with gentle nursery areas for beginners, scenic tree-lined runs and wide-open pistes that are ideal for confident cruisers. First-timers are in good hands thanks to the excellent local ski school, while younger skiers can enjoy fun slopes and mini jumps in the snow park.

Long before ski lifts arrived, Obergurgl was a thriving mountain village, and its centuries-old history is still evident today. An elegant 18th-century church and charming wooden buildings give the resort an authentic Alpine character. Accommodation is centred around high-quality hotels, many offering excellent facilities such as swimming pools and children's playrooms, with most located just a short walk from the lifts. Evenings are typically relaxed, with cosy dinners and drinks by the fire setting the tone. For those looking to experience the resort's famous après-ski scene, the Nederhütte bar is the place to be, where a lively house band takes to the stage each afternoon from 4pm, playing crowd-pleasing rock classics.

When you're ready for a break from skiing, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy the mountains. Visit the horse riding centre at Edelweiss & Gurgl and saddle up for a session in the indoor arena – a fun and memorable change of pace.
