Overview
The Austria Gourmet & Wine Hotel is a fine example of genuine Austrian hospitality, style and elegance. It has a fantastic peaceful location - slightly elevated above the centre of Obergurgl, but with a ski run right across the road. Food is high quality, with a great use of local ingredients and service to match. Expect a great mix of Tirolean and international cuisine.
The hotel is the interconnected sister hotel to the Bellevue where guests can spend time in the beautiful spa area. You’ll be staying in the separate annexe building, over the road from the main hotel. It’s connected by an underground passage, so you can pad between the two without going outside.
Description
Location
Take an 8-minute stroll to the Rosskarbahn chairlift or Hohe Mut Bahn gondola each morning, to get access to miles of red and blue runs. Or head 10 minutes in the opposite direction to the Festkoglbahn gondola, which is closer to the Hochgurgl side of the ski area. You can cruise back to within a couple of minutes of the hotel on Blue 6, or take Red 12 to the bottom of the Festkoglbahn and walk home from there. Good for exploring, the hotel is within a short walk of shops and restaurants.

Austrian twin beds
Austrian twin beds are very common in Central Europe. They’re simply one large bed frame containing two single mattresses, both with separate duvets and linen sets, that cannot be separated. Separate twin beds are less common and can often be head to head beds, rather than side by side, if they are available.

About Obergurgl
Obergurgl skiing
Obergurgl is great for beginners and intermediates, which, along with good ski schools, makes for an excellent family ski holiday destination. One of the highest resorts in Austria at 1930m, Obergurgl has an excellent snow record and long season. Linked to Hochgurgl, there are over 100km of runs to enjoy. For more advanced skiers and boarders, there is often some nice off-piste to get that adrenalin pumping...
Obergurgl ski resort
The resort itself is pleasing to the eye and offers a sense of alpine charm. Off snow activities are a little sparse, although après ski is jovial without being too hectic. Hotels are generally of a high standard, with some excellent facilities and very high end dining if you're staying at the right places!
