Overview

Sporthotel Berger sits right in the centre of Saalbach, opposite the village church, offering a traditional yet characterful base in the heart of the resort. While the hotel has a classic alpine feel throughout, it’s given a distinctive twist with Art Deco-inspired details in the rooms and bold zebra-print accents in the lounge bar. The friendly staff add to the welcoming atmosphere, often going the extra mile with personal service and local tips.

Getting onto the slopes is easy, with the Schattberg gondola just a short walk away, providing quick access to the Saalbach ski area.

After skiing, the cosy lounge bar is ideal for a relaxed drink and sharing stories from the day. In the evening, guests can also head to the downstairs nightclub for a livelier atmosphere, including the weekly Elvis Presley cabaret performance. For something more relaxed, the wellness area offers a sauna and space to unwind and soothe tired ski legs.

Dining is hearty and satisfying, with a generous breakfast buffet featuring hot options such as eggs, bacon and sausages cooked to order. Evenings focus on traditional filling dishes like stews, schnitzels and roast pork—perfect after a full day on the mountain.

Sporthotel annexe: The Berger's annexe is located 20m from the main hotel. All meals and facilities are located in the main hotel. Please note that, as these rooms are located in a separate annexe building, they are of 3-star standard.

With 270km of interconnected slopes on its doorstep, Saalbach is a fantastic base for skiers looking to explore one of Austria's largest ski areas. The varied terrain caters to all abilities, from easily accessible nursery areas and gentle, tree-lined blue runs to steeper north-facing pistes for more experienced skiers. If you're keen to cover even more ground, a connecting gondola provides seamless access to the neighbouring Zell am See–Kaprun ski area, opening up even more terrain to discover.

Nestled in the picturesque Glemm Valley, Saalbach has all the charm of a classic Austrian village. Traditional timber buildings line the streets around the distinctive onion-domed church, while a river winds through the lively pedestrianised centre. Après-ski is a big part of the resort's appeal, with slopeside bars providing the perfect place for a celebratory drink after a day on the mountain.
