Rauris
Rauris is situated in a beautiful valley & is ideally suited to beginners or families plus the charming village centre has plenty of shops, restaurants & bars to discover
Overview
With its compact ski area and easy-to-navigate village, Rauris is an ideal choice for a first ski holiday. Beginners are well looked after, thanks to an excellent ski school and nursery slopes at the base of the main gondola. Gentle blue runs stretch all the way to the top of Schwarzwand mountain, so even novice skiers can enjoy spectacular views of Austria's highest peak, the Grossglockner. Travelling with mixed abilities? Several mountain restaurants are accessible without skis, making it easy for everyone to meet up for a relaxed lunch on the mountain.
Despite its small size, Rauris has plenty of charm, with a selection of welcoming shops, cafés, bars and restaurants to explore. Accommodation is typically family-run and just a short stroll from the gondola, creating a warm, home-from-home atmosphere that perfectly complements the village's laid-back feel.
There's plenty to enjoy away from the slopes too. Discover the beautiful scenery of Hohe Tauern National Park on one of its peaceful winter walking trails, or embrace a classic Alpine tradition by hiring a wooden toboggan and racing down the resort's winding sledging run.
