One of Norway’s most renowned interior architects is responsible for the modern and relaxed interiors. As well as the refurbishment of its public areas, a new spa wing housing rooms and suites and a new spa and fitness centre has been built. In addition, a refurbishment of the main hotel’s rooms and suite, and an upgrade of the soft furnishings in the family annexe rooms is planned for Winter 06/07.The hotel has a fantastic location at the base of the gentle Geilolia slopes, 50m from the nearest lifts and ski school meeting point and next to cross country trails. The resort centre is 2km away and served by a free ski bus during the day. This is a fantastic base for families and beginners looking for great service and facilities literally on the slopes.
Note: This area is reserved for adults over 16yrs. Guests staying in the spa wing rooms or suites have free use of the spa and fitness area and receive a bathrobe and slippers. We recommend you pre-book treatments prior to arrival - see pre-bookable packages below.
Families and Children:
Meals: Buffet breakfast and three course evening meal. Speciality buffet 1-2 times a week.
Board Basis: Half Board. Christmas and New Year meals included. Special Gala meals available locally at a supplement.
Please note: We grade rooms and suites in the spa wing and main hotel as 4+N and family annexe rooms as 3N.
On the train line from Bergen to Oslo, Geilo is a quiet resort that is best suited to families and cross-country skiers. In fact, 'langlaufers' have hundreds of kilometres of tracks, as Geilo is one of the biggest centres in Norway. For downhill skiers there are 39 runs to chose from most of which cater for beginners and intermediates. There is excellent childcare and instruction and the resort facilities are all within a short distance.
Overall, Geilo is a small resort more geared towards cross-country than downhill skiing. It offers limited pistes, with a quiet and unrushed atmosphere, but not really a place for dedicated skiers.
