Overview
The building overlooks the village and backs onto the slopes, so you can ski straight off each morning. Or, if it’s your first time, the nursery area is a 2-minute stroll away.
After skiing, spend your après hours at the hotel’s bowling alley, which is decked out like an American diner with red leather booths and a classic jukebox. Then keep the fun going in the 1909 Sportsbar, where you’ve got pub games like shuffleboard. Prefer something more laid-back? Try the spa. There’s a steam room, sauna and outdoor hot tub that's perfect for a post-piste soak.
The hotel itself dates back to 1909, and there are plenty of nods to yesteryear dotted around, like the chandeliers and leather armchairs in the lounge and reading room. Upstairs, the bedrooms are decorated in a mix of styles. Some have an on-trend grey colour scheme and plush fabrics, while others keep things simple with wooden furniture and cream walls.
Food-wise, you’ll get a buffet spread to set you up each morning, and if you fancy making evening meals hassle-free, you can upgrade to half board to get those included too.

About Geilo
On the train line from Bergen to Oslo, Geilo is a quiet resort that is best suited to families and cross-country skiers. In fact, 'langlaufers' have hundreds of kilometres of tracks, as Geilo is one of the biggest centres in Norway. For downhill skiers there are 39 runs to chose from most of which cater for beginners and intermediates. There is excellent childcare and instruction and the resort facilities are all within a short distance.
Overall, Geilo is a small resort more geared towards cross-country than downhill skiing. It offers limited pistes, with a quiet and unrushed atmosphere, but not really a place for dedicated skiers.
