Overview
If you're looking for an authentic mountain retreat, Pension Angelo's a great choice. It's a family-run hotel just outside the centre of Corvara. It's location at the top of the hill means you get some great views. If you don't fancy the steep walk into town, hop on the free public bus to get to the centre (normally runs from mid June to 10 Sep) or the lifts that'll take you to the mountain trails. The décor here is a simple alpine style - it's a cosy place to come back to after a busy day and the staff are very friendly. The four star Sporthotel Panorama next door is the s ister hotel and you can use some of their fantastic facilities. This is where you'll have dinner each night, too.
If it's your first time in Corvara, we recommend joining one of the guided excursions that the staff run. It's a great way to get to know the area. If you get some time before dinner, head to the small wellness area to chill out in the steam room or sauna. If you fancy a swim, you can use the pool at the Sporthotel Panorama (payable locally).

About Corvara
Found in the Alta Badia ski area and a linked offshoot of the Sella Ronda circuit, Corvara is one of the bigger villages. It is also one of the more lively. There are lots of restaurants, bars and hotels and, as one recent visitor has noted, 'if you like good food and great wine and beer, this is the place for you'. The other villages on the circuit offer even more eateries, but drinking and driving is just as stupid in Italy as it is anywhere else. Corvara is very conveniently positioned to get the most out of the region's skiing, much of which favours intermediate cruisers and beginners. Experts may well want to stay in nearby Arabba for some of best tough stuff in the Italian Alps. Unfortunately, as with the less well-known Italian resorts, foreign languages are not widely spoken, so ski school in particular can be a bit of a problem.
Overall, Corvara is a good spot for getting the best of the Alta Badia and the Sella Ronda areas – also offering plenty to occupy your stomach in the evenings…
