Perfectly positioned in the peaceful Hovdestaul area of the resort, Gausta Sportell offers superb ski convenience with the slopes quite literally on your doorstep. Step outside, click into your skis, and the Fyrieggheisen drag lift is right there waiting to whisk you onto the mountain for a full day on the snow.

With the ski school meeting point, nursery slopes and hire shop located around five minutes away by bus, the regular free resort shuttle stopping just outside the hotel makes getting around simple and stress-free — ideal for beginners, families, and anyone collecting equipment.

Accommodation ranges from comfortable doubles to spacious three-bedroom apartments, making Gausta Sportell a flexible choice for couples, families and groups alike. Interiors are warm, modern and welcoming, with contemporary bathrooms and thoughtful touches throughout. Some rooms even overlook the piste, offering front-row views of skiers carving fresh tracks across the mountain each morning.

Fuel up for the day with a generous breakfast buffet featuring continental favourites alongside hot options such as sausages, omelettes and pancakes. In the evenings, settle into the hotel’s stylish dining space to enjoy hearty mountain cuisine crafted with seasonal local ingredients, beginning with warming soup before moving on to two further carefully prepared courses.

Guests upgrading to half board also enjoy the added flexibility of dining at the nearby Gaustablikk Mountain Resort on two evenings during their stay. Standard half board includes a three-course set menu at Bjørk Restaurant, while alternative options include dining at Fjell Bistro in the Stova building or using a partial dining credit towards the à la carte menu at Blikk Fjellbrasserie. Reservations can easily be arranged through the Sportell reception team.

Rooms

All rooms are non-smoking and have a TV and tea or coffee-making facilities.

Double room (approx. 17m²) – sleeps 1-2: Double bed, private shower, WC and mountain view.

Interconnecting rooms are available on request.

Cots are available to hire for 300 NOK per stay, on request.

All apartments are non-smoking and have a kitchenette with oven, hob, fridge, toaster, coffee machine and dishwasher, as well as a TV, hair dryer and vacuum cleaner. Towels, linen and end-of-stay cleaning (except kitchen) are included. Beds are made on arrival. Extra towels or linen is available - just ask at the bar.

2 bedroom apartment with mountain view (approx. 33m²) – sleeps 2-4: Double bed, bunk bed (small double lower bunk, single upper bunk), living area, private shower, WC and mountain view.

3 bedroom apartment with mountain view and balcony (approx. 54m²) – sleeps 2-8: Double bed, two bunk beds (small double lower bunk, single upper bunk), living area, private shower, WC, balcony and mountain view.

There is no reception at the Gaustasportell. If you need any assistance, please ask staff at the bar on in the restaurant. You'll be met by a member of staff when you arrive to check you in.

*You can also choose to dine at the Gaustablikk Mountain Resort restaurant for 2 evenings. You'll get a 3-course set menu evening meal at Bjørk Restaurant. You can also choose to take your evening meal at the Fjell Bistro in the Stova building, or get a partial payment voucher for the à la carte evening menu at the hotel's Blikk Fjellbrasserie – just book a reservation with staff at the Sportell at least two days beforehand and they’ll book you in.
