When you picture the classic Scandi ski trip, you think snow-capped wooden cabins and nights getting cosy by the fire. Kvitåvatn Mountain Cabins are just the thing – simply furnished in true Norwegian style, they're homey and great for sharing meals then keeping toasty together after a day’s skiing. And if you fancy cabin-life without the self-catering, upgrade to bed & breakfast or half board and get your meals at the Gaustablikk Mountain Resort too.

You’re close to the slopes here and whether you’re hopping on a lift or nipping to the shop, the essentials are all conveniently close by. That also goes for the Mountain Resort, where you’ll find a few other facilities. Take a short 6-minute walk and join the ápres fun in Kirks bar or head head to the spa for some R&R instead.

For a taste of real Scandinavian serenity though, paying a bit extra and booking a visit to the floating saunas is the way to go. A steam with an incredible view – this really is relaxing in style. Then, you can even embrace local tradition and hop right into the lake itself.

Just so you know, with the half board upgrade you are able to switch up your evening meal on a day-to-day basis. As a standard, you'll get a 3-course set menu evening meal at the Mountain Resort's Blikk Fjellbrassiere restaurant. You can also choose to take your evening meal at the Fjell restaurant, where the price of your half-board meal will be dectucted from the cost of your meal. Alternatively, you can get a partial payment voucher for Blikk's à la carte evening menu – just let the hotel's reception know two days beforehand and they’ll book you in.

Rooms

All apartments are non-smoking and have a TV, fireplace, free WiFi and a kitchen with an oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, coffee machine and dishwasher. Towels, linen and end-of-stay cleaning (except kitchen) are included.

3 bedroom apartment with mountain view and sauna - sleeps 1-8 (max 6 adults and 2 children): Double bedroom, second bedroom with two bunk beds, third bedroom with family bunk bed, private shower, sauna and WC.

Cots are available to hire for approx. £22.50 per week, payable locally.

Please note: Beds will not be made on arrival.

There is an extra charge of approx. 50kr for entry to the wellness area. This fee covers use of the indoor pool, sauna and hot tub.

The floating saunas must be pre-booked. There is an extra cost to use these of approx. 850NOK (£60).

Guests should check out before 11am.

All facilities including reception, are in the main hotel, Gaustablikk Mountain resort, which is a 5 to 6 minute walk.
