Overview
Known for its friendly staff and excellent food, the Orso Grigio’s got it covered when it comes to home comforts and fine dining. Step out the door and your right in the centre of the old town, with shops, bars and restaurants to browse before heading back for dinner. There’s a bus stop just outside, so it’s easy-peasy getting to the slopes, or take an 18-minute walk to the gondola to start your day on the slopes.
Once a merchant’s house, traditional meets modern here. Frescoes and wooden shutters outside pair with soft beiges and creams inside. Bedrooms are spacious and come with views of the historic bell tower or the mighty Dolomites. If you fancy chilling, unwind in the hot tub before heading to the bar and swapping slope stories.
Start your day with a delicious breakfast and then in the evening, tuck into local specialities and Italian cakes. If you fancy a tipple with your meal, the hotel has its own wine cellar.

About Cavalese
Cavalese is one of the 11 small resorts that make up the Val di Fiemme ski area. Found by the beautiful Alpe Cermis, Cavalese offers 70km of local slopes, with bus links to a combined total of 150km of runs. The Sella Ronda circuit is also pretty nearby. You'll have to take a cable car up to the mostly easy runs, but there are some breathtaking views along the way. Cavalese is an old medieval village and a quiet place to stay with accommodation and eateries for all budgets. Ideally, it is a great place to tour the region's ski resorts, so having a car is a real advantage. Perhaps its biggest pull is for 'langlaufers', as Cavalese is the Italian centre for cross-country skiing, with 150km of trails. There are plenty of other winter pursuits for non-skiers as well.
Overall, Cavalese is a centrally-located resort, great for accessing lots of other areas, with limited local skiing for lower ability skiers.
