Overview
A ski-in, ski-out stay packed with mountain charm, from the weathered, timber shingles on the outside to the stylish bedrooms, with their comfy throws and ski-inspired artwork wall art.
The facilities are fabulous, too – especially for families. The hotel-run childcare means little ones can have fun with crafts and games, while you enjoy a relaxing session in the sauna. Just be sure to head to reception when you arrive to book your childcare slots.
After a day on the slopes, head to the bar and swap ski stories with everyone, then take your drink out onto the panoramic sun terrace to soak up the snowy scenery. And when it’s time to eat, dig into a buffet spread that'll tick all the boxes, from a quick coffee and croissant to a cooked breakfast with all the trimmings. Refuel with some homemade dishes when lunch rolls around, and for your evening meal, fill up on everything from pizza and pasta to grilled meats and fish – and with all-inclusive drinks from the bar, you won't be racking up a bar tab.
You can also book a table in the Le Grand Zinc restaurant to try Savoyard classics, like fondue and raclette. Plus, from Sunday to Friday there's a food truck out on the terrace where you can grab a juicy burger for a mid-ski snack.

About Avoriaz 1800
This also attracts better skiers, as do some great black pistes. The most notable of these is 'The Wall', which plunges you down into Switzerland and should only be tried by those with plenty of tough miles under their belts. But don't despair beginners and intermediates - there are countless motorway pistes across the whole network to get you sorted and smiling.
As a purpose-built resort, Avoriaz was one of the first to work out a largely sensible layout. There are no cars, making for a calm, safe atmosphere. Lifts are very close to the accommodation, which varies greatly depending on the age of the building. Horse-drawn sleighs are popular and very romantic in an evening after dinner. Because of its attractions, Avoriaz often gets crowded and can be expensive. There are about 25 restaurants (some good, but pricey) and reasonable nightlife. The ski school is excellent. Children are well catered for, including a very good kids' village and Geneva is only two hours away.
Overall, Avoriaz is blessed with a number of qualities to establish its excellent reputation in the region. It's good for its snow, its challenging skiing and the fact that you can always ski to your door.
