Description
The Fairmont Banff Springs is one of the most spectacular hotels in the world. It is nestled at the foot of the Rockies with magnificent views of the Bow River, and is approximately a 20 minute walk into the main Banff Town. Built in a Scottish baronial style in 1888, the hotel is virtually a resort in itself. With nearly 770 bedrooms, 15 shops and boutiques and an impressive choice of dining experiences from around the globe, the only reason to leave this resort is to go skiing!
It is a popular choice for our guests staying in Banff, not just for its breathtaking location but also its extensive facilities: the Willow Stream Spa, once described as a sanctuary, and the perfect place to relax, unwind and indulge in one of the many treatments available (indoor and outdoor pool, whirlpools, hot tubs, treatment rooms, sauna and steam rooms, fitness room). You will be amazed by the vast choice of restaurants and bars with cuisine ranging from Italian, to sushi to French Canadian – something to suit every taste. The hotel has its own bowling centre – a great way to spend an evening; an ice rink – perfect for an afternoon off the slopes, and shops – ideal for some retail therapy. There is also a free shuttle to Banff Town and a shuttle (payable locally) to the three ski areas.
The hotel features Fairmont and Deluxe rooms, Junior, Executive 1 and 2 bedroom suites.
The Fairmont Gold is a unique experience, available to those clients who wish to have a more personalised service and added extras to make their holiday that little bit more special. About Banff
Ski your way through three incredible resorts around Banff, with 362 runs spread across 7,748 acres of terrain. Regular free ski buses connect you to Sunshine Village, Lake Louise and Mount Norquay, with scenic journeys lasting around 15 to 45 minutes. Keep your eyes peeled as you travel through the forest – you might spot local wildlife, including moose and bighorn sheep. On the slopes, expect legendary light powder and terrain for all abilities. Beginners can build confidence on gentle, wide-open runs at Sunshine Village, while experienced skiers can explore Lake Louise’s famous back bowls or chase fresh powder at Mount Norquay.
Founded in 1883 after railway workers discovered the area’s natural hot springs, Banff has grown into a lively mountain town while keeping its welcoming local character. Today, its charming main street is packed with shops, cafés and saloon-style bars where you can relax with a drink and catch a game of ice hockey after a day on the mountain. With most accommodation offered on a room-only or bed and breakfast basis, you’ll also have the freedom to explore the town’s fantastic restaurants, from Alberta steak houses to spots serving fresh Pacific seafood.
Surrounded by the spectacular landscapes of Canada’s first national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Banff offers unforgettable scenery at every turn. Take a walk through Johnston Canyon to discover icy cliffs, caves and frozen waterfalls, or relax in the famous Banff Upper Hot Springs – the natural springs that helped put the town on the map.
