Description
Firstly, for beginners, you've got the Lechnerberg nursery slopes less than 5 minute's walk away. Take a shortcut through the old railway tunnel and the Maiskogel slopes aren't much further. Also up the end of the road is the free ski bus stop, so it's dead easy to get over to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier or Zell am See's Schmittenhöhe - both around 15 minutes in either direction. Also Kaprun's centre is just over the bridge, so on the chalet hosts' night off you'll have plenty of choice for dinner nearby or for a bit of après action.
The Mara has nine well sized bedrooms, all comfortably decorated in a typically Austrian style but with a bright and cheery, modern vibe. There are even some family rooms. A couple of the rooms have their private bathrooms separated from the room, so if you pick one of these rooms you may want to save a little space in your suitcase for a bathrobe to make things easier in the mornings.
We know you're here for the skiing or snowboarding, but if you do fancy a bit of down time then there's also a comfy lounge area with satellite telly and free WiFi, so you can update your status and make all your friends at home jealous.

About Kaprun
Kaprun is an excellent choice for early and late-season skiing, thanks to the snow-sure slopes of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. Reaching the glacier is effortless via the K-onnection gondola, which links the village directly to the mountain. Wide, open blue runs are perfect for relaxed cruising, while the steeper red and black pistes lower down provide a rewarding challenge for more experienced skiers. Beginners are equally well catered for, with a dedicated nursery area conveniently located just a short distance from the resort centre.
Back in the village, you'll find a lively atmosphere with a great selection of bars, cafés and restaurants. For a unique après-ski experience, stop by the Ice Camp on the Kitzsteinhorn, where a collection of striking igloos houses an ice bar and lounge alongside a panoramic sun terrace with spectacular mountain views. Accommodation is equally varied, ranging from self-catering apartments to luxurious hotels with first-class facilities.
If relaxation is top of your agenda after a day on the slopes, spend some time at the Tauern Spa.
