Overview
The historic Dr Holms Hotel has been a landmark in Geilo since it opened in 1909, the very same day as the Bergen Line. With over a century of heritage, the hotel has carefully preserved its traditional charm while offering a relaxing and welcoming stay for modern travellers.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Hallingskarvet mountains, the iconic white wooden building overlooks the resort and provides fantastic panoramic views. Its convenient ski-in, ski-out access via a gentle blue run makes it easy to hit the slopes early and return right to the door at the end of the day. Ski storage is simple too, with a heated room available for your equipment.
After a day on the mountain, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. Enjoy a game of bowling, unwind with a drink in one of the hotel’s bars, or head to the spa area for some well-earned relaxation. Take a swim in the pool, ease tired muscles in the sauna or steam bath, soak in the indoor jacuzzi, or enjoy the outdoor hot tub while taking in the incredible alpine views.

About Geilo
On the train line from Bergen to Oslo, Geilo is a quiet resort that is best suited to families and cross-country skiers. In fact, 'langlaufers' have hundreds of kilometres of tracks, as Geilo is one of the biggest centres in Norway. For downhill skiers there are 39 runs to chose from most of which cater for beginners and intermediates. There is excellent childcare and instruction and the resort facilities are all within a short distance.
Overall, Geilo is a small resort more geared towards cross-country than downhill skiing. It offers limited pistes, with a quiet and unrushed atmosphere, but not really a place for dedicated skiers.
