Tyrol Basin
Overview
Tyrol Basin, 32km (20 miles) west of Madison, is one of 22 resorts in Wisconsin. The vertical drop is a mere 300ft, although the summit reaches 1,160ft. Six lifts offer an uphill capacity of 5,100 skiers an hour and 100% of the trails are covered by snow-making facilities. You can't get much more extensive than that. On-mountain attractions include a 305m-long monster mogul run, two snowparks and a decent half-pipe. Forty per cent of the terrain is graded for experts, 28% for intermediates and the remaining 32% for beginners.
