Loveland Ski Area
Overview
Loveland pretends to have two resorts, though really it only has one. But it's a good one and unusual, too. Loveland, twin areas divided by Interstate 70, takes its name from the high mountain pass that traffic used to have to negotiate to get from Denver to Summit County, before the Eisenhower Tunnel was built. It has some of the highest skiing in Colorado – and also some of the steepest. Although there are two sections, it is not a huge ski area, but an interesting combination of quite easy skiing and long, testing, gladed chutes. Adventurous skiers often hitch a lift up to the pass from Keystone and ski down from the very top into the ski area.
