Font Romeu
Overview
Font-Romeu, just 19km from Perpignan (200km from Toulouse), is a small but lively family ski area in the French Pyrenees. The slopes, with skiing between 1800 and 2204m, are predominantly on a sunny plateau. They are 4km away from the village, and reached by bus. The sunny exposure and mild climate can make early and late snow conditions a little unreliable, so the resort has invested heavily in artificial snow.
Reputedly one of the biggest snow-making operations in the Pyrenees, Font-Romeau's snow cannons cover 50% of its slopes. There is also a snowboarding park and extensive cross-country trails.
