Marble Mountain
Overview
Marble Mountain is the closest North American resort to Europe and with new direct flights available from Gatwick it is now easily accessible. Close to Goose Bay in the foothills of the Appalachian range of western Newfoundland, the resort is 670km west of St John's, the provincial capital, which is five hours from London. The nearest big town, Corner Brook – Newfoundland's second-largest – is only 10km away. Marble Mountain, not far from the Gros Morne National Park, has five lifts, including three quads, serving 30 trails (the longest, Country Road, is 4.5km). There's a snowboard park and a not unimpressive vertical drop of 1,700ft, plus a good snow record. It also has night-skiing.
