Overview
Description
Opened in 1930, the Bella Lui is a rare example of modern architecture having been designed by the renowned husband & wife team, Rudolf and Flora Steiger-Crawford, originally as a luxury sanatorium which was later transformed into a hotel in the 1960s. It is a member of Swiss Historic Hotels and has won awards for the preservation of the original features.
The slopes are high, sunny and varied with 140km of mostly intermediate terrain above and below the tree line. Keen skiers will especially enjoy the 11km decent from the top of the Plaine Morte Glacier all the way back to resort.
About Crans Montana
Perched on sunny, south-facing slopes high above the valley, Crans-Montana offers spectacular panoramic views and skiing up to 3,000 metres on the Plaine Morte Glacier. The resort is a paradise for intermediate skiers, with an extensive network of wide red and blue runs perfect for relaxed cruising. Beginners are equally well catered for, with dedicated learning areas both in the village and higher up the mountain. A modern lift system makes getting around the ski area quick and effortless.
Crans-Montana is made up of two neighbouring villages, linked by a scenic lakeside promenade that's ideal for a leisurely stroll. Crans combines timeless alpine elegance with luxury boutiques and fine dining, where you can enjoy regional specialities in stylish surroundings. Montana has a more relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, with charming chalet-style buildings, cobbled streets and plenty of welcoming cafés and restaurants offering great-value meals.
Beyond the slopes, there's no shortage of winter adventures. Pull on a pair of snowshoes and follow trails inspired by the legendary dahu – a mythical mountain creature said to roam the Alps – or swap your skis for an electric MoonBike and explore the snowy landscape from a different perspective. As evening falls, wander the enchanting Lantern Trail through the forest or experience the magic of a torchlit ski descent beneath the stars.
