About Kranjska Gora
Kranjska Gora is Slovenia's biggest and premier resort. It's near the Austrian and Italian borders and has 30km of pistes, which are reasonable for all bar advanced skiers. The lift system is old but queues are not too bad. The skiing is best suited to young families who are looking to learn, as there is a very good ski school. Accommodation and food are of great value and there is a fine selection of après-ski and off-snow activities. The resort itself has a degree of Austrian charm about it, while the people are very helpful and friendly.
Overall, Kranjska Gora is a relaxed venue ideal for beginners on a budget – perhaps best described as 'cheap and cheerful'. It is only 60km from Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital, which is well worth a visit in its own right. Ljubljana also offers an international airport.
