Ski Holidays in Bled

Lake Bled is easily Slovenia’s most photographed spot and it doesn’t take long to see why. Framed by snow-dusted forests and Alpine peaks, the lake’s tiny island and the dramatic Bled Castle perched above it create a scene that feels almost unreal. While Bled itself isn’t a ski resort, it’s perfectly placed for easy access to two nearby ski areas. Within around 30 minutes, you can reach Vogel Ski Resort, known for its panoramic mountain views and varied terrain. Alternatively, Kranjska Gora is about 45 minutes away, offering a mix of gentle beginner slopes, longer cruising runs, and challenging World Cup pistes. Both resorts may be smaller in scale, but they deliver plenty of variety. Back in Bled, the atmosphere is just as much a draw as the skiing. The town combines high-quality hotels with welcoming, family-run restaurants serving hearty Slovenian dishes. And if you’re in the mood for a change of pace, the capital, Ljubljana, is only about an hour away—ideal for a cultural day trip. Away from the slopes, Bled’s natural setting takes centre stage. A lakeside path circles the water in roughly two hours, offering constantly changing views and plenty of scenic stopping points. For something more leisurely, a traditional horse-drawn carriage ride around the lake adds a fairytale touch especially when the landscape is blanketed in snow.
