About Drei Zinnen
Beginner Skiing and Snowboarding
Drei Zinnen is an excellent destination for beginners, offering quiet slopes, uncrowded lifts, and wide, open pistes that make learning to ski or snowboard feel relaxed and enjoyable. The beginner-friendly areas around Versciaco and Monte Elmo feature gentle gradients, smooth terrain, and consistently well-groomed snow, ideal for building confidence and practising the basics.
The layout of the resort makes it easy to stick to simpler runs while still soaking up the spectacular alpine scenery. Many beginner slopes are located lower down, close to the valley, making them easily accessible and less intimidating. Combined with reliable snow conditions and a peaceful atmosphere, Drei Zinnen provides a supportive and encouraging environment for first-timers.
Intermediate Skiing and Snowboarding
Intermediate skiers will find plenty to enjoy, with a strong selection of red runs that take full advantage of the region’s sweeping terrain. Slopes are long, varied, and well-connected, allowing for enjoyable, uninterrupted cruising.
Areas such as Monte Elmo and Croda Rossa are particularly popular, offering wide, rolling pistes that are perfect for refining technique and gaining confidence. Compared to larger resorts, Drei Zinnen remains refreshingly uncrowded, giving you the space to ski at your own pace.
With over 100 kilometres of local slopes and access to the vast Dolomiti Superski area, adventurous intermediates have plenty of opportunities to explore further. The combination of varied terrain, reliable snow, and dramatic Dolomite views makes every run memorable.
Advanced Skiing and Snowboarding
While Drei Zinnen is best known for its relaxed charm, advanced skiers will still find rewarding challenges. A selection of black runs offers steeper descents and more technical sections, particularly around Monte Elmo and Croda Rossa.
These slopes are ideal for confident skiers looking to carve at speed or tackle more demanding terrain, all set against the striking backdrop of the Dolomites.
Off-Piste and Snow Parks
For those seeking adventure beyond the marked pistes, there are off-piste opportunities around Croda Rossa and Monte Elmo. Natural bowls, un-groomed sections, and tree-lined descents provide exciting terrain for experienced skiers. As always, off-piste skiing should only be attempted in safe conditions and preferably with local guidance.
Freestyle skiers and snowboarders can head to the snow park near the Rienza ski lift in Dobbiaco. The park is well maintained and caters to a range of abilities, with a variety of kickers, boxes, and rails across multiple lines perfect for practising tricks or trying something new.
Cross-Country Skiing
Drei Zinnen is one of the premier cross-country skiing destinations in the Dolomites, boasting over 200 kilometres of immaculately groomed trails. The area forms part of the extensive Dolomiti Nordicski circuit, one of the largest in Europe.
Trails cater to all levels, from gentle beginner loops to longer, more demanding routes that wind through forests, open valleys, and past frozen lakes. Many routes begin directly from villages such as Dobbiaco, San Candido, and Sesto, making access easy and convenient.
One of the standout routes is the scenic trail between Dobbiaco and Cortina d'Ampezzo, which follows a former railway line through spectacular mountain scenery, an unforgettable way to experience the Dolomites in winter.
