About Valmeinier
Tucked away in the Maurienne Valley, Valmeinier remains one of the French Alps' best-kept secrets. Sharing its ski area with neighbouring Valloire, it combines authentic Alpine charm with excellent value and a relaxed atmosphere. With most of the slopes linked by gentle blue runs, it's an ideal choice for intermediates, families and mixed-ability groups. Better still, a ski holiday here often comes with a more affordable price tag than France's better-known resorts.
The resort is spread across two distinct villages. At 1,500m, the original village offers traditional Savoyard character, while the purpose-built resort at 1,800m is thoughtfully designed around the main lifts in a compact horseshoe layout. Much of the accommodation is ski-in, ski-out or just a short walk from the slopes, making it easy to maximise your time on the mountain. Out on the pistes, wide-open snowfields and sweeping ridgelines provide spectacular Alpine scenery in every direction.
Away from the skiing, there's plenty to add to your winter adventure. Gather friends or family for a thrilling snake gliss experience, where a train of linked sledges twists and turns its way down the mountain. Or slow the pace with a husky sled ride, gliding through peaceful snow-covered landscapes as a team of eager dogs leads the way.
