Overview
From the facilities to the staff, there are plenty of reasons why the Wagrainerhof deserves a spot on your shortlist this winter. It scores top marks location-wise too. You’re right in the resort centre and the nearest lift is a 5-minute stroll away – or just hop on the free ski bus that stops outside and you’ll be there even quicker.
The Rötzer family have been running things here since the 1950s, and they’ve certainly kept pace with the times. Over the years they’ve added some swish extras, like a top-floor spa decked out with a duo of saunas. And for families, there's a playroom with air hockey, table football and a stack of games. As for the décor, it’s a mix of modern and traditional – picture natural wood, plush fabrics and plenty of feature lighting to add that up-to-date feel.

About Wagrain
Right in the heart of the 120km Snow Space ski area, Wagrain offers excellent terrain for intermediate skiers. Begin on gentle, tree-lined slopes above the village before taking the cable car across the valley to explore the wider network of pistes around nearby Flachau. It’s also a fantastic choice for families, with Wagrainis Winter World providing magic carpets, easy learning slopes and even an indoor play area for breaks from the snow.
The village itself blends traditional Austrian charm with modern convenience. Timber-framed buildings and carved wooden balconies line the streets, while accommodation ranges from contemporary hotels to more authentic alpine-style guesthouses. Après-ski tends to centre around the base of the slopes, where lively bars make it easy to join in the fun after your last run.
For off-slope family time, the Wasserwelt Wagrain is a real highlight. With slides, fountains and splash zones for all ages, it’s perfect for kids, while adults can unwind in the sauna area after a day on the mountain.
