Overview
A great-value stay, run by friendly locals – the Pension Mair’s what Austrian guesthouses are all about. The location’s spot on too. The centre of the village is just a few steps away, and it’s a 2-minute walk to the main gondola, nursery slopes and ski school.
The place has typical Tyrolean looks, with whitewashed walls, wood cladding and bright green shutters. Inside, things are simple but homely, and the cosy bedrooms are a comfy place to lay your head – you’ll even get a balcony too. As for food, there’s a hot and cold buffet breakfast served at the nearby Hotel Park to set you up for the day. And for some extra simplicity in the evenings, you can upgrade to half board to get your evening meals here as well. Or stick with bed and breakfast and sample some of St Johann’s excellent restaurants.
There aren’t any extra facilities at the guesthouse itself. But with free use of the spa in the Hotel Park and free entry to the public pool included, you’ll still want to pack your swim things.

About St Johann in Tirol
St Johann is a great choice for first-time skiers, with a compact ski area that’s easy to get to grips with. A large nursery zone sits close to the village, while a mix of scenic blue and red runs offers plenty of options as confidence builds. Families are well catered for too, with a snow park and fun slope packed with bumps, boxes and banked turns.
The village has classic Tyrolean charm, with frescoed buildings and an onion-domed church overlooking the central square. While it’s not a party hotspot, there’s a relaxed, friendly atmosphere in the evenings, with locals gathering for a stein of beer from the town brewery. Accommodation ranges from traditional Alpine hotels to more modern stays, all offering easy access to the slopes.
When you’re not skiing, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. Try bouldering at the youth centre for a fun, rope-free climbing session, or head to the water park for slides and a splash-filled break from the mountain.
