About Igls
Igls is a charming mountain village with an impressive sporting heritage, having hosted events during two Winter Olympic Games. While its Olympic legacy is celebrated, the resort is equally welcoming for beginners, with gentle nursery slopes close to the village and wide, open pistes higher up offering spectacular views across Innsbruck. Although the local ski area is compact, you can easily expand your adventure with the twice-weekly ski bus to the nearby Stubai Glacier, where 100km of high-altitude slopes await.
Renowned for its thermal springs since the Middle Ages, Igls has retained its traditional Alpine character. Cobbled streets weave between timber-framed houses, while a Gothic church stands at the heart of the village. Accommodation is limited but of an exceptionally high standard, with luxurious wellness facilities, welcoming restaurants serving regional specialities, and a peaceful atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxing mountain escape.
For a change of scenery, Innsbruck is just a short tram ride away, offering a wealth of culture, shopping and sightseeing. Or stay closer to the village and experience Austria's only bobsleigh track, where you can ride with a professional pilot and reach speeds of up to 120km/h for an unforgettable adrenaline rush.
Please note that the ski bus to the Stubai Glacier operates on Tuesdays and Fridays.
