Overview
Hotel Elisabethpark brings together the grand heritage of Bad Gastein with one of the region’s most distinctive natural features – its thermal waters. Built above the town’s famous springs, the hotel’s long indoor pool is fed by naturally warm, mineral-rich water, offering a uniquely relaxing experience. After a day on the slopes, there’s something special about drifting through the steamy pool while looking out at snow-dusted forests framed by large panoramic windows.
Its central location makes it an appealing choice for those who like to stay close to the heart of the resort atmosphere. A convenient shuttle service runs to and from the ski lifts for a small weekly fee, ensuring easy access to the slopes. Inside, traditional Austrian décor and a classic spa-hotel ambience reflect the building’s long history. While some areas may feel a little dated, the hotel offers plenty of character and old-world charm for those who prefer authenticity over modern design.
Evenings here move at a gentler pace. After unwinding in the pool or the spa’s four saunas, guests can settle into the cosy lounge bar for a relaxed drink. Dinner is served in the form of a four-course buffet-style Austrian menu, giving you plenty of choice to suit your appetite. During the festive season, gala dinners are included on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, adding an extra touch of celebration to your stay.

About Bad Gastein
Located 90km from Salzburg and train-linked, Bad Gastein is one of the most well-known spa towns in Austria. Located at the centre of the Gastein Valley ski area, which has four domains totalling 250km of pistes. Bad Gastein and Bad Hofgastein are lift linked but the rest of the resorts in the Gastein ski area are not. The region is home to the brand new Schlossalmbahn - a modern gondola capable of carrying 3,000 people an hour that runs non-stop to the top of the mountain. The skiing favours good intermediates with lots of challenges and tree-lined skiing. For experts, there is a wide range of off-piste and great powder can be found on the Kreuzkogel. There is also the World Cup downhill run to test the best. Beginners aren't overly catered for, with the easier slopes spread around the area, even though the ski school has a good reputation. You can't ski to your door and you'll have to take a bus to the lifts. Boarders have only just been provided with a park and half-pipe, but they could find the high number of draglifts a bit of a challenge.
There are very good facilities for accommodation and restaurants, for non-skiers and for après-ski in general. Nightlife is quite sophisticated and prices are predominantly high. The 'bath and beer' option is very popular for afternoon après-ski. Transfer times are minimal from Salzburg, but you might not like the resort traffic and the irregular bus links to the skiing. Overall, Bad Gastein is an excellent base for the whole winter experience, but its few disadvantages won't please beginners and families.
