Overview

Mount Snow was the first East Coast resort to provide boarders with a specialist park. It still boasts the largest park in the East (900m) and 135 marked runs for all, making it one of the biggest in New England. These total 80 km over 5 small peaks, all of which are well connected. The terrain isn't particularly varied, catering mostly to beginners and intermediates, but there is a separate black run area, including the well-known 'Ripcord' run. Beginners will find Mount Snow a great place to learn with a top-rated ski school. Loads of investment from the American Skiing Company has been ploughed into new lifts, allowing limited queues and efficient touring. There is also a pass share with Haystack, although this is a car journey away. There are quite a few eateries, but the resort is quiet during the week. In spite of lying 340km from Boston, many drive up for weekend skiing and invigorate the nightlife. As with all East Coast resorts, the vagaries of the weather can affect your stay. It can be cold, icy, or simply lacking snow, so you should regularly check the snow reports. Mount Snow, because of the city clientele, can be expensive, but with welcoming staff and decent snow, this makes a good alternative to better known New England resorts. Mount Snow is a family favorite vacation spot with exceptional kids programs including child care for those six weeks and up and skiing/snowboarding programs for youngsters as young as three years old. Mount Snow may be known for its great skiing but there are many other activities from tubing, snowmobile tours, snowshoeing and dog sled rides to complete spa services.
