Glencoe
Overview
Found in the 'White Corries', 90 minutes from Glasgow, Glencoe has been skied since 1961 and is now open all week during the season. There are only 11km of pistes but there is a top class vertical, when the snow is good. Therein lies the problem. The weather can be so unreliable that it is always better to keep an open mind and check the snow reports regularly. There is very little in the way of après-ski and non-skiing activities, but it's a great place for getting your ski legs back. It is easy to knock Scottish skiing, but it simply isn't a direct replacement for the Alpine experience.
Overall, a week at Glencoe will most likely not be a week of skiing, but it's a good place in which to spend part of a holiday in the region. There is plenty of fun to be had in and around the area…
