About Davos
With five ski areas to choose from, Davos is spot on if you like a bit of variety. There’s terrain for every level, so you can mix things up throughout the week. Intermediates have over 100km of reds to cruise, including the brilliant long run from Weissfluhjoch down to Küblis. Confident skiers can test their legs on the blacks, and boarders have a choice of snow parks. If cross-country’s your thing, you’re in the right place – Davos has hosted World Cup races, and the tracks here are some of the best around.
At 1,560m, Davos is often described as Europe’s highest town. It’s spread between relaxed Davos Dorf and livelier Davos Platz, where you’ll find a good mix of bars and restaurants. The feel is more modern alpine town than chocolate-box village, with wide streets and a cosmopolitan buzz. Fancy a day off the skis? Hop on one of the local mountain railways and sit back as you glide past snowy peaks, deep valleys and famous viaducts – the network links up with iconic routes like the Bernina Express.
There’s plenty to keep you busy off the mountain too. Stop for a drink at slopeside après spots like Bolgen Plaza, catch an ice hockey match or head out on a peaceful snowshoe walk. Want something a bit different? Try fondue in an igloo, or pop over to Klosters for a horse-drawn carriage ride through the snowy pine forests.
