Mount Potts
Overview
Mount Potts is one of the most interesting of New Zealand's dozen or so club-fields (typically non-commercial, primitive rope-tows with little, if any, grooming and cheap lift tickets). A long way from anywhere (160km from Christchurch and almost 90km from Methven), Mount Potts formerly gloried in the name Erewhon. It has now been re-named after the mountain which rises above the lodge. Unusually, almost all the terrain goes from one end of the spectrum to the other – beginner or verging on extreme, with very little for intermediates except runs off the Intermediate rope tow – one of four on the mountain.
