Luosto
Overview
Luosto is small but perfectly formed, with some short, sharp descents and desolately beautiful, if somewhat flat, scenery. While most skiers will find the slopes beyond the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland enchanting, many will find its skiing too limited to sustain more than a couple of days or so, unless you explore more than one resort. In Luosto's case, this would be Pyha – pronounced Poo-ah – which is mysteriously twinned with Jackson Hole. Usually, the problem is that just as you start to get the measure of a run and start to push for the burn, you reach the bottom. The runs are not long enough to be truly satisfying.
