Mont-Sainte-Anne
Overview
The Québecois are past masters at enjoying cold winters – even at night, skiing down front face runs like Tourmente on the front face of Mont Sainte-Anne. With a vertical drop of more than 2,000ft, almost 60 trails, 13 lifts and skiing on both sides of the mountain, Mont Sainte-Anne has magnificent views across the gently drifting ice-pack of the St Lawrence. Halfway down a run down called La Pichard, you can make a pit-stop at a slopeside Càbine Sucré (Sugar Shack) where, for a dollar, you can get 'Taffy On Snow' – a toffee lolly made by pouring boiling maple syrup onto fresh snow.
