Ski Holidays in Tignes, France

It is no surprise that Tignes is one of the most popular ski holiday destinations for both British and French. Taking your ski holiday in Tignes provides you with all the skiing attributes of Val d'Isère, as they combine to make up one amazing ski area. Tignes also has the Grande Motte glacier, so year-round skiing is available - one of its biggest attractions. Because of its high altitude, Tignes makes for an excellent early or late season ski holiday destination. The whole area is serviced very well by an efficient lift system and the five 'satellites' that make up the resort are all linked by free bus.
Tignes Ski Holidays: The Skiing
The 300km of marked pistes cover all abilities and provide greatly varied mountain terrain. Advanced skiers and boarders are particularly well served on skiing holidays in Tignes, with great off-piste (a guide is an absolute must). Equally, the 1992 Olympic downhill run, the 'Face', will put you through your paces.

Tignes ski holidays cater for more than just the advanced skier however; the entire Tignes/Val d'Isere Ski Area is a playground for all abilities, with a wide range of gentle cruising for beginners and a great choice of varied red runs for the more adventurous intermediates.

Tignes Ski Holidays: Off the Snow
Because of its 1960s heritage, the resort is unlikely to win any awards for its Alpine charm, although millions have been spent on smartening the resort up. In terms of the off-snow side of your Tignes skiing holiday, there are perfectly adequate facilities. There are a few good restaurants and supermarkets are available for the self-catering crowd.  though, the nightlife isn't as varied or wild as in Val d'Isere, but there's plenty to found if you know where to look. Families are greatly welcomed on ski holidays in Tignes with good childcare run by the ski schools.

Overall, Tignes is not a place that relies upon Alpine ambience, but hey, who cares when the skiing is about as good as it gets?
