Beaver Creek Resort Info

Linked to Vail, Beaver Creek was developed only 20 years ago and is even more exclusive than its neighbour. It shares many of Vail's attributes, including the link to 3 other ski areas by bus (Keystone, A-Basin and Breckenridge). Snow is very reliable, but if it fails there is massive snowmaking potential. It is mostly an intermediates paradise, although there are some extremely challenging black trails and moguls for advanced skiers. Beaver Creek was also the venue for the 1999 Downhill and Super Giant Slalom World Championship races. Boarders have plenty to amuse them, with parks, powder and half-pipes specially provided. Beginners benefit from brilliant tuition, and childcare is first-class. Beaver Creek's single greatest failure is that it is very expensive across the board, not possessing the cheaper options that even Vail offers.

Beaver Creek, as a resort, is contentedly exclusive, with high-class hotels, luxury shopping and posh restaurants. The nightlife is not as lively or as extensive as that offered by Vail. Beaver Creek isn't particularly strong on charm, but it is very tastefully built. The whole resort was computer-designed, possibly explaining why its ambience is occasionally rather lacking.

Overall, Beaver Creek offers excellent skiing and wonderful support services for learning and improving. Be sure to recharge your Gold Card before going, though…
