Selva and Santa Cristina are near enough joined to make up the largest resort on the Sella Ronda circuit, with its 175km of runs. It's a big domain, with a highly efficient lift system, 120km of snowmaking coverage, great scenery and generally good value. Children get a better deal here than at many other Italian resorts, with under-sevens going free. German is spoken here and many locals call Selva 'Wolkenstein'. You can't ski in and out, so you'll have to rely on free buses to the lifts and these can get crowded. Once on the slopes, intermediates will find the most for good cruising. Experts might be best heading to Arabba for decent challenges, but beginners should be okay. Learners have lots of good boarding/skiing. The ski school at Selva has received mixed reviews, but most are positive. It's a big domain, with a highly efficient lift system, 90km of snowmaking coverage, great scenery and generally good value. Children get a better deal here than at many other Italian resorts, with under-sevens going free. A lack of spoken foreign languages can be a bit of a hindrance. As a resort, Selva/Santa Cristina is a bit of a sprawler. You probably won't be deafened by a chorus of “my, what simply divine architecture they have here”. There's a wide range of accommodation, while eating on and off the mountain is first-class. Overall, Selva/Santa Cristina makes an excellent family venue, with good après-ski and lots of non-skiing stuff to keep everyone amused. There can be quite a lot of traffic and some queues, while long lift journeys are required to get at the very best Sella Ronda slopes. It's well worth visiting, though…
