The main ski resorts are situated in the Kuuosomo region hosting Finlands voted top resort, Ruka, and the Lapland regions two largest resorts Levi and Yllas. Although smaller resorts in comparison to their other European counterparts, this is a great opportunity to enjoy your ski holiday without the commercialism, queues and crowds found in some of the purpose built Alpine resorts. The resorts in Finland are perfect for beginners and intermediates, but also offer some great alpine and off piste opportunites for the more daring and advanced. Finlands resorts are of a traditional set up with log cabins as opposed to ghastly sprawl of hotels. If you time it right, look out for magnificent Northern Lights, often seen in Finland.
