The vast majority of accommodation in Zermatt is in hotels. There are an
increasing number of catered chalet options, though you need to move quickly to bag the best of them, especially on peak dates.
There are a
few mid-range freestanding properties offered by the likes of Ski Total, but the majority, including the smartest options with companies such as Scott Dunn and VIP are
apartment style and located in the Klein Matterhorn area, giving
excellent ski access and a 10 minute walk into the centre of town.
