Boasting an enviable range of options, St Anton can quite rightly claim to be
Austria’s ski chalet capital. From
cheap and cheerful through to exclusive 5* luxury, you can find it all in St Anton where some 15 or so UK tour operators boast
over 70 ski chalets. The vast majority of the chalet options are located in the
Nasserein area of town, giving excellent mountain access via an 8-person gondola whisking skiers quickly up to Gampen at 1800m.
Most of the
shops and nightlife are located towards the western end of the main street, though the walk from Nasserein into town is along the valley, and quite pleasant (less so coming home from the legendary Mooserwirt or Krazy Kanguruh with ski boots on, but
taxi’s and buses are always available for those who can’t face the sobering walk!)
