Choosing a Resort for Your Ski Holiday in France
Ski resorts in France vary greatly in style. There are huge, ugly, purpose-built monstrosities like Flaine, and pretty old farming villages like Megève or Chatel. The "chocolate box" resorts may be ideal for that romantic ski holiday for two, but you can't beat many of France's purpose-built resorts for convenience. La Plagne, for example, has mostly ski-in-ski-out accommodation - making it a perfect choice for family ski holidays with young children.
For those wanting to really cover the miles during their ski holiday, France has some of the biggest ski areas in the world. Les Trois Vallées (the Three Valleys) is a prime example. Comprised of the resorts of Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens and Les Ménuires, the whole area has a massive 600km of pistes.
Did I hear you say off-piste? France is home to the originators Chamonix Mont Blanc and La Grave... need I say any more?
