Mayrhofen is the largest of the ski resorts covered by the Zillertal Superski pass, with 101km of runs. The whole area has a total of 455km, however not all the areas are lift-linked. The skiing on Mayrhofen ski holidays is excellent for beginners and intermediates, with one of the best ski schools in Austria. The resort also gets pretty good snow due to its altitude and has access to the 18km of pistes on the Hintertux glacier for guaranteed year-round skiing.

Better skiers don't have a particularly wide choice of challenging skiing in Mayrhofen, although there is some reasonable off-piste to be found. Mayrhofen skiing holidays are also very popular with snowboarders due to the world class Burton Fun park.

The resort itself is a town in its own right and so loses out somewhat in the charm stakes. There are a wide range of options for restaurants, off-snow pursuits, bars, nightclubs and ski holiday accommodation in Mayrhofen. This is possibly Mayrhofen's biggest pull. Overall, Mayrhofen offers somewhat disjointed skiing, but with plenty to do off the slopes. It's a large resort that allows different holidaymakers to do their thing making Mayrhofen a great ski holiday destination.
