Taking the Train to the Alps

So if you’re looking for gentle nursery slopes and a laid-back Alpine village atmosphere, or thrilling off-piste action and lively après-ski, then head for the French Alps by rail.

Way to go

Easy rail connections from London or Kent to the French Alps give you access to some of the best powder in Europe, from world famous resorts to laid-back hidden gems. Once on board, just sit back, relax and enjoy the journey. Unlike flying, many railway stations are located conveniently close to your resort – usually only a short taxi or bus journey away. Go by day

Eurostar connects you with superfast TGV services that will get you to the French Alps in just 3 or 4 hours from Paris or Lille. Popular stops include Chambery, Moutiers, Aime la Plagne, and Bourg St Maurice – for the popular Three Valley and Espace Killy ski areas.

Go overnight

You can also travel overnight from Paris. It’s easy. Resort transfer by rail
Perhaps you’re thinking of getting the train to resort from the airport such as Geneva-Chamonix, Innsbruck-St Anton, Geneva-Verbier to name a few. Local trains often prove a cheaper and more convenient way to get to your resort than a taxi transfer. Connections from some airports are particularly easy as you’ll find the station at the airport for example Geneva, Lyon Saint Exupery and Zurich.
