31 Jan - Most Snow Since 1966 In Paradiski

The huge Paradiski ski domain in the French Alps which combines Les Arcs, Peisey Vallandry and La Plagne with 425km of piste says snow levels in parts of its vast domain are the deepest they have been at this time of year for 46 years.

The resort is reporting these record levels of snow in perfect time for the crucial English and French February school holiday period.

At 1600m in Paradiski the snow depth is at 175cm (just under six feet) and near the yop of the slopes at 3000m it’s at 3.4 metres – more than 11 feet.

“Snowfalls of this magnitude haven’t been seen since 1966,” said a resort statement.

The area reports currently occupancy rates are running at 70% for the month of February and the remaining capacity is expected to be snapped up soon given the conditions.

70% of Paradiski’s slopes are above 2000m so it seems a near certainty that even if no more snow falls for the rest of the winter, conditions will be good now right through to the end of the season on 21st April.
