staff management to customer relations, this job is as challenging as it
is rewarding. There is no "typical" day as the job is so people based and
varied.
Each day provides contact with the guests, as you'll be visiting the chalets
on a daily basis.
You spend Saturdays going to the airport to wave off departing
guests and welcome the new ones.
Sundays you'll be organising lift passes,
ski lessons and equipment hire.
On Wednesday, along with your Relief Rep,
you'll be laying out and clearing up breakfast and afternoon tea in the
chalets as it's the chalet staff's day off.
Weekly staff meetings and chalet inspections [ to check that Simply's high
standard of cleanliness is being adhered to] will help to keep you abreast
of any staff and chalet issues. Weekly accounts and reports need to be completed
accurately and on time, to go to your Service Manager, the UK and the overseas
office.
There are also important local relationships to develop: with the chalet
owners, the lift pass office, ski school and ski hire shop to name a few.
If you're well organised, there's still plenty of time to ski up to 6 days
a week.
Hard work, good fun and very rewarding sums up my 5 months in Courchevel
1300. I learnt a lot and hope to be back next winter for more. Need I say
more!
