Arabba Resort Info

Arabba is found in the midst of the Sella Ronda circuit, with a total of 175km of runs. The whole area offers great intermediate skiing, but Arabba is best known for the challenges it provides for better skiers and boarders. There are great steeps, combined with a good snow record and direct access to the Marmolada glacier. You'll also find some of the best heli-skiing in the Alps. It isn't a great place if you are looking for lots of off-snow activities, while for young kids it's really quite lacking. The resort itself isn't exceptional - small and uncommercial, with some reasonable eateries and accommodation. People are really here for the skiing/boarding, though. Après-ski shouldn't trouble visitors too late into the night, with only two venues of note.

Overall, Arabba is a resort geared towards the better skiers/boarders and doesn't offer a whole heck of a lot else. Some have described it as being an Italian Argentière…

Snow Overview - Italy  (snow news updated 31-Jan-2012)

Lots of snow fell in parts of Italy over the weekend. The Milky Way ski area was where most of it fell, with up to 60cm falling up high on Sunday 29th January. The Ski Club Leader based in Sauze d'Oulx (80/100cm) said the runs are in great condition with the fresh snow and the cold weather coming later this week should keep it that way. 10cm of fresh snow fell at Cervinia (110/270cm). Excellent conditions exist all over the mountain and the Ski Club Leader enjoyed a great days skiing on Sunday 29th January.

European Weather Outlook

Cloudy and snowy skies are expected to loiter over the vast majority of European resorts over the coming days although only a light level of snowfall, around 1-2cm each day, is anticipated throughout the week. Sunshine is then expected to make a come back for the vast majority of resorts by the end of this week or the start of next week. The southern French Alpine resort of Isola 2000 however could receive up to 27cm of fresh snow on Tuesday 31st January, bucking the trend of just a dusting. The other weather news of note is that temperatures are set to drop, getting below -20C in many locations by the end of this week, so make sure you have some nice warm layers to put on.
