Chalet Hotel Moris

Features

  • Sleeps 51 - 59
  • Catered chalet

The Moris is a small chalet hotel that has the sociable feel of a chalet. The views are great, the location perfect. But what makes the Moris special is its atmosphere.

You get the feeling that people have been enjoying themselves here for years. The Moris feels like a club, instantly familiar and comfortable, friendly and utterly unpretentious. The kind of place you make life long friends, where you settle in for a week and then come back year after year - as many guests do.

The Moris was one of the first hotels to be built in Val d'Isère and it wears its age well. Lovely old doors with polished brass fittings open on to bedrooms that are simple but likeable. There are plenty of single rooms, and most rooms have a bath or shower.

Up on the first floor the dining room is a warm and colourful room with big group tables and lovely views. The bar is small but fun, perfect for collapsing after a hard day's skiing. Then, when you really want to let the good times roll, there's the Moris Pub on the ground floor - a big American style bar with live music.

The bedrooms are simple but comfortable and there are plenty of single rooms available. Most rooms have their own bath or shower and some have WCs. Single and room share options are available for solo travellers.

    Val d'isère skiing

Val d'isère is justifiably ranked up there with the best resorts in the world. Lift linked with Tignes with which Val d'isère makes up L'Espace Killy, there are 300km of varied pistes to please everyone from beginners to pros. Expert skiers and snowboarders are particularly spoilt for choice in Val d'isère with the 1992 Olympic course, the 'Face', plenty of off-piste (remember to take a guide) and a world class snow park.

    Val d'isère ski resort

Val d'isère has not only world class skiing but also boasts some world class après ski. The Folie Douce at the top of la Daille gondola is probably the most famous of Val d'isère's après haunts but is far from the only one. Restaurants on and off the mountain are pricey but good, which added to a good range of accommodation and lot's to do for the non-skiers makes it easy to see Val d'isère's attraction.

Snow Overview - France  (snow news updated 04-Dec-2017)

Lots of fresh snow was falling all around the French Alps on Thursday 27th April. With a lowering freezing level and heavy snow falls continuing, many French mountain villages are looking very Christmas like. On snow conditions are generally fresh, although the lower slopes are still very spring like. Up top powder conditions are abundant, however, poor visibility and limited lift access is keeping the options restricted. The current snowy and cloudy weather will break for the weekend, presenting an excellent chance to get in one last lift access powder day for the season. Many resorts will be closed next week, but there is still loads of fresh snow in the forecast. With a good knowledge of the avalanche problem, touring conditions will be exceptional well into next weekend.

    European Weather Outlook

Across the central European Alps, snow and cold temperatures are forecast to stick around until Saturday. Accumulations of snow on the upper slopes could be huge for the time of year, with some Swiss resorts predicting around 80cm over the course of today and Friday. By the weekend the snow is predicted to subside in many regions and a mixture of sun and cloud is expected for much of Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland. In the Pyrenees, Saturday should be the pick of the day for any skiing in Andorra. Our featured resorts are now closed for the season, but for anyone strapping on their skins, you can expect a mixture of sun and cloud, with temperatures around +3C In Germany, 44cm of fresh snow is being forecast for Garmisch (0/380cm), who will be in disbelief at the moment for all the snow they have received of late. Further north you can expect temperatures of around -3C and snow showers in Norway, which are set to continue right through to Sunday for resorts such Trysil. Across the border in Sweden, the weather should be fairly similar, but any snow that does fall is likely to be light and bring only 1-2cm. Despite some recent biting temperatures and cold winds in the UK, any snow that does fall on the Scottish mountains is most likely to be on Thursday. Thereafter, rain could destroy any hopes of some late season turns.
