2013/14 season saw the transformation of the Chalet
Hotel Aiguille Percee. Situated in the heart of the village of Tignes Le
Lac this cosy Chalet Hotel has undergone an extensive refurbishment.
With the addition of 13 new rooms including interconnecting and family
suites as well as the upgrade of the original rooms all of which now
have a modern rustic feel, the majority with brand new bathrooms and TVs
with 20 British channels. The communal areas have had extensive work
done, with the restaurant almost doubling in capacity and the bar
increasing in size to accommodate a new look and feel with more seats
and a larger bar area. Reception will now be downstairs, where our
customer services team will be on hand to answer any queries. For those
wanting to relax after a hard day on the slopes there will be a new
indoor swimming pool. two brand new, Viva health & beauty treatment
rooms, a steam room and sauna to soothe any aches and pains away.
This cosy Alpine hotel has plenty of charm and a great location that
ensures both the slopes and the shops are within easy reach. Just a step
outside the Chalet Hotel Aiguille Percée, and you will be greeted by
gorgeous views of the Lac de Tignes and the Grand Motte glacier. It’s
only a 100 metre walk to the main gondola which will whisk you up to the
vast Espace Killy ski area or just around the corner, you’ll find
yourself in the main square where the ski schools meet up. It couldn’t

They’ll serve you a Full English or continental breakfast to set you up
for the day, followed by a yummy afternoon tea in the dining room
overlooking the mountains and lake, ensuring there’s plenty of home-made
cakes, soup, juices and assorted teas to go round. Afterwards, put your
feet up in the bar or lounge, or sit on the balcony and soak up some
afternoon sunshine. If you need to soothe your aching muscles, head for
the hotel’s very own sauna and steam room or book yourself in for an
indulgent beauty treatment and massage.
Children can make new friends and have fun in the children’s club,
supervised by our fully qualified British nannies. They can enjoy their
own early evening meal followed by a supervised film showing that runs
during evening dinner so that you’re free to dine in peace.
The bedrooms all have en-suite facilities and some have their own
terrace. Everybody is catered for in a mixture of twins and doubles and
good sized family rooms.
Wifi is available in the hotel at a charge of 15 Euros per week.

Lift linked to Illustrious neighbour Val d'Isère to make up the Espace Killy, the Tignes ski area is, needless to say, vast and varied. The 300km of marked pistes cater for all levels and tastes with great off-piste, long wide blues and two snowparks (with another, even better one, over in Val d'Isère). Tignes also has the Grande Motte glacier providing year-round skiing. The glacier and Tignes' high altitude, make this resort for a great early or late season ski holiday destination. The whole area is serviced very well by an efficient lift system and the five 'satellites' that make up the resort are all linked by free bus.

Due to its 1960s heritage, Tignes is not exactly famous for its Alpine charm. However, off-snow activities have improved somewhat over the last few years. There are a nice range of decent restaurants and bars whilst there are supermarkets for the largely self-catering crowd. Nightlife and après ski is pretty healthy and families are greatly welcomed with good childcare run by the ski schools. Overall, Tignes is not a place that relies upon Alpine ambience. But hey, who cares when the days are filled with such great skiing.
