2013/14 season saw the transformation of the Chalet Hotel Aiguille Percee. Situated in the heart of the village of Tignes Le Lac this cosy Chalet Hotel has undergone an extensive refurbishment. With the addition of 13 new rooms including interconnecting and family suites as well as the upgrade of the original rooms all of which now have a modern rustic feel, the majority with brand new bathrooms and TVs with 20 British channels. The communal areas have had extensive work done, with the restaurant almost doubling in capacity and the bar increasing in size to accommodate a new look and feel with more seats and a larger bar area. Reception will now be downstairs, where our customer services team will be on hand to answer any queries. For those wanting to relax after a hard day on the slopes there will be a new indoor swimming pool. two brand new, Viva health & beauty treatment rooms, a steam room and sauna to soothe any aches and pains away.

This cosy Alpine hotel has plenty of charm and a great location that ensures both the slopes and the shops are within easy reach. Just a step outside the Chalet Hotel Aiguille Percée, and you will be greeted by gorgeous views of the Lac de Tignes and the Grand Motte glacier. It’s only a 100 metre walk to the main gondola which will whisk you up to the vast Espace Killy ski area or just around the corner, you’ll find yourself in the main square where the ski schools meet up. It couldn’t be better!

Inside the hotel, you’ll find a warm welcome from our friendly staff . They’ll serve you a Full English or continental breakfast to set you up for the day, followed by a yummy afternoon tea in the dining room overlooking the mountains and lake, ensuring there’s plenty of home-made cakes, soup, juices and assorted teas to go round. Afterwards, put your feet up in the bar or lounge, or sit on the balcony and soak up some afternoon sunshine. If you need to soothe your aching muscles, head for the hotel’s very own sauna and steam room or book yourself in for an indulgent beauty treatment and massage.

Children can make new friends and have fun in the children’s club, supervised by our fully qualified British nannies. They can enjoy their own early evening meal followed by a supervised film showing that runs during evening dinner so that you’re free to dine in peace.

The bedrooms all have en-suite facilities and some have their own terrace. Everybody is catered for in a mixture of twins and doubles and good sized family rooms.

Wifi is available in the hotel at a charge of 15 Euros per week.

Please Note - One evening a week dinner is not served in the Chalet Hotel giving you the chance to dine out at one of our excellent local restaurants.

Tignes Resort Info

Tignes skiing

Lift linked to Illustrious neighbour Val d'Isère to make up the Espace Killy, the Tignes ski area is, needless to say, vast and varied. The 300km of marked pistes cater for all levels and tastes with great off-piste, long wide blues and two snowparks (with another, even better one, over in Val d'Isère). Tignes also has the Grande Motte glacier providing year-round skiing. The glacier and Tignes' high altitude, make this resort for a great early or late season ski holiday destination. The whole area is serviced very well by an efficient lift system and the five 'satellites' that make up the resort are all linked by free bus.

Tignes ski resort

Due to its 1960s heritage, Tignes is not exactly famous for its Alpine charm. However, off-snow activities have improved somewhat over the last few years. There are a nice range of decent restaurants and bars whilst there are supermarkets for the largely self-catering crowd. Nightlife and après ski is pretty healthy and families are greatly welcomed with good childcare run by the ski schools. Overall, Tignes is not a place that relies upon Alpine ambience. But hey, who cares when the days are filled with such great skiing.

Number of ski lifts: 79 ; 2 funiculars, 4 cable cars ; 5 gondola lifts, 18 chairlifts, 25 detachable chairlifts

Number of runs: 155 with 26 black slopes (7 in Tignes), 39 red (19 in Tignes), 68 blue (36 (Tignes) and 22 green (7 in Tignes)

Snow Overview - France  (snow news updated 04-Dec-2017)

Lots of fresh snow was falling all around the French Alps on Thursday 27th April. With a lowering freezing level and heavy snow falls continuing, many French mountain villages are looking very Christmas like. On snow conditions are generally fresh, although the lower slopes are still very spring like. Up top powder conditions are abundant, however, poor visibility and limited lift access is keeping the options restricted. The current snowy and cloudy weather will break for the weekend, presenting an excellent chance to get in one last lift access powder day for the season. Many resorts will be closed next week, but there is still loads of fresh snow in the forecast. With a good knowledge of the avalanche problem, touring conditions will be exceptional well into next weekend.

European Weather Outlook

Across the central European Alps, snow and cold temperatures are forecast to stick around until Saturday. Accumulations of snow on the upper slopes could be huge for the time of year, with some Swiss resorts predicting around 80cm over the course of today and Friday. By the weekend the snow is predicted to subside in many regions and a mixture of sun and cloud is expected for much of Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland. In the Pyrenees, Saturday should be the pick of the day for any skiing in Andorra. Our featured resorts are now closed for the season, but for anyone strapping on their skins, you can expect a mixture of sun and cloud, with temperatures around +3C In Germany, 44cm of fresh snow is being forecast for Garmisch (0/380cm), who will be in disbelief at the moment for all the snow they have received of late. Further north you can expect temperatures of around -3C and snow showers in Norway, which are set to continue right through to Sunday for resorts such Trysil. Across the border in Sweden, the weather should be fairly similar, but any snow that does fall is likely to be light and bring only 1-2cm. Despite some recent biting temperatures and cold winds in the UK, any snow that does fall on the Scottish mountains is most likely to be on Thursday. Thereafter, rain could destroy any hopes of some late season turns.
